Hearts and Horses Therapeutic Riding Center
Hearts & Horses, a non-profit therapeutic riding facility nestled in the foothills of Northern Colorado, has been changing lives for people with disabilities since 1997. In addition to their work with handicapped individuals they offer Equine Assisted Learning programs for at-risk youth. Their instructors are rigorously trained and certified by PATH Intl., the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International.
The Riding in the Moment program helps facilitate adults and seniors facing the challenges of aging, memory loss, and age or injury related cognitive impairments in finding joy in equine related activities. Click here to visit their website.
Memories in the Making
Alzheimer’s Association Memories in the Making® (MIM) is an art program for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias that brings comfort and joy through the process of creating watercolors. Even after people with dementia have lost the ability to use words, they are often able to express thoughts and emotions and to share memories through painting with watercolors.
